SMP full head for RM299? Questions to ask before you compare prices

Prices like "RM299 full-head SMP" or "RM499 single-needle SMP" are eye-catching. The number in an ad is only a starting point; what really counts is the total for a complete full head that lasts for years. Ask these questions first and you can work out the real cost and know exactly what result you will get.

Real customer before and after

Question 1: What does the advertised price include?

Low-price ads usually use a few phrases: "from", "single-needle" and "first-trial price". A "from" price normally covers the smallest area or most basic plan; single-needle describes the needle type; a first-trial price usually covers the first session only. These phrases are common, so the key is knowing what the number covers.

Ask directly: is this the full head or part of it? How many sessions are included? What does each session after the first cost? Ask for every charge in writing.

Question 2: How many sessions for a full head? How many touch-ups, and at what cost?

SMP is usually done over several sessions plus touch-ups. Ask how many sessions a full head takes, how many touch-ups are included, and what each extra one costs. Add these up for the number you will actually pay.

Question 3: Single-needle or multi-needle? Will it look natural and dense?

Single-needle places one dot at a time; multi-needle places several. Dot size, spacing and overall density differ. Ask which is used, why, and what naturalness and density to expect.

Question 4: What pigment is used? Is it NPRA-notified?

Pigment goes directly into the scalp, so ask about ingredients and origin. In Malaysia, cosmetic products are notified to the NPRA (National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency). Ask to see the product’s NPRA notification number and check it yourself online.

Question 5: How dense will the full head be? Ask for real full-head results

A full-head result depends on density. With low density, it can look little different from untreated hair at a distance. Ask to see real before-and-after photos of full-head clients, ideally with a situation like yours.

Question 6: How long does it last? How often is a redo needed, and what does it cost?

Ask how long results usually last, how often touch-ups or redos are needed, and what a redo costs. The shorter it lasts, the higher the total over the years.

Finally: work out the true total price

True total = first price + remaining sessions + touch-ups × cost each + (redos over the years × redo cost). Apply this to every quote and compare the cost per year to see which option is truly better value.

Simulation & Stimulation: transparent pricing, explained up front

At NPM® Malaysia, your scalp is checked with an instrument at the consultation and the area measured, then you get the full quote on the spot, with no hidden charges. Priced by area, from RM178 for 20cm², 80% cheaper than a transplant.

The scalp serum is Folli-Xtra Dark Black Scalp Serum, NPRA notification number NOT230902604K, which you are welcome to check. One session, a fuller look in 3–4 hours, results last 24–48 months; visible change, or your money back. Every treatment is under Dr. supervision.

Why does Simulation look denser than SMP?

SMP uses pigment dots to reduce scalp show-through so hair looks denser. Simulation builds a layered strand look in thin areas, adding density layer by layer and blending with your own hair, so Simulation looks denser than SMP and you keep your style. Simulation & Stimulation (拟发生发) is NPM® Malaysia’s non-surgical in-centre treatment: Simulation uses bio-compatible pigment to improve the look of density, and Stimulation helps support healthy hair and scalp condition, under Dr. supervision.
